Limite infinie
Pour tout réel $A$, il existe un réel $m$ tel que si $x>m$ alors $f(x)>A$ $\Longleftrightarrow \displaystyle \lim_{x\to+\infty} f(x)=+\infty$.Limite finie en l'infini
Pour tout intervalle ouvert $I$ contenant $\ell$, il existe un réel $m$ tel que si $x>m$ alors $f(x)\in I$ $\Longleftrightarrow \displaystyle \lim_{x\to+\infty} f(x)=\ell$.Limite infinie en un point
Pour tout réel $A$, il existe un intervalle ouvert $I$ contenant $b$ tel que si $x\in I\cap D_f$ alors $f(x)>A$ $\Longleftrightarrow \displaystyle \lim_{x\to b} f(x)=+\infty$.Asymptote verticale
Si $\displaystyle \lim_{x\to a} f(x)=+\infty$ ou $-\infty$, alors la courbe $\mathcal{C}$ se rapproche de la droite $x=a$, qui est une asymptote verticale.Asymptote horizontale
Si $\displaystyle \lim_{x\to\pm\infty} f(x)=a$, alors la courbe $\mathcal{C}$ se rapproche de la droite $y=a$, qui est une asymptote horizontale.Asymptote oblique
Une fonction $f$ admet une asymptote oblique d’équation $$y = ax + b$$ si $$\lim_{x\to+\infty} \big(f(x) - (ax+b)\big) = 0$$ ou $$\lim_{x\to-\infty} \big(f(x) - (ax+b)\big) = 0.$$ Autrement dit, la courbe de $f$ se rapproche d’une droite non horizontale et non verticale. 🔍Limites des fonctions usuelles

Le graphe d'une fonction \(f\) admet une asymptote d'équation donnée. Déduire les limites possibles de \(f\).
- \(x = 1\).
- \(y = -2\).
- \(y = 4\).
- \(x = 0\).
- \(x = -3\).
- \(y = 0\).
Exercice – Calculatrice et asymptotes
Soit la fonction \(g\) définie sur \(\mathbb{R} \setminus \{-2~;~2\}\) par : \[ g(x)=\dfrac{-3x^2 + 5}{x^2 - 4}. \]
- Donner les limites de \(g\) en \(+\infty\) et en \(-\infty\), puis en \(-2\) et en \(2\).
- Donner les équations des asymptotes à la courbe \(\mathscr{C}\).
- En utilisant la calculatrice, étudier la position de \(\mathscr{C}\) par rapport à son asymptote horizontale.
